Hydroponic Peas & Sushi ...

We were inspired by one of customers to retry our pea microgreens using our hydroponic sea solid system.  As you can see the results are spectacular, not only are the pea microgreens great looking, but with the addition of the sea solid fertilizer the taste is spectacular !!!

The peas at the right were grown for 14 days and they sure responded well to the combination of our hudroponic growing mat and sea solids.

And now on to the Sushi.  We all know how great microgreens are on sushi, right?  How about sushi made with vegies instead of fish ...

I saw a Kickstarter Tomato Sushi campaign that really piqued my interest and I shared my fascination.  To my surprise, my daughter who is a food and travel blogger emailed me that there is a restaurant in Honolulu, YuZu that features such veggie creations.  Upon looking at their website, feast your eyes on this selection of veggie sushi (if in Honolulu you could fully feast !!!)

With our dwindling stock of seafood and climate change making large scale agriculture more tenuous by the day, it may be time to rethink some of our old habits and move on to a brighter future of sustainable nutrition delivery rather delivering empty nutrition (food) ...

In Search of Wellness ... Book Two

Let me recap our experiment on unlocking the growth and nutrition of our microgreens.  We conducted experiments after much research showing how powerful just the addition of trace elements could be in the process.  We found a product and conducted tests and here are results of the two main experiments using our sea solids.  Picture at left shows two identical hydroponic setups using our growing mats and the only difference was using our sea solid fertilizer on the right.  Picture 2 shows an even more pronounced difference with the left side being raised in our gold standard WonderSoil and the right being just a hydro mat and sea solids solution.  What you cannot see is the extreme difference in the taste of and vibrancy in our produce.

While introducing our hydroponic microgreen products to one vegan Chef Eilijah from Hawaiian Superfoods (pictured at left is an amazing papaya seed apple salad topped with our sango radish microgreens) we got into a conversation that led me to read more and find that there are exists multiple products that contain trace elements that are consumed to provide wellness for people.  So long story short, we have now started bottling a solution similar to trace mineral products now produced and on the shelves of health food stores (even found one in our local Whole Foods).  The effects on microgreens are now well documented.  See our new Sea Solid Full Spectrum Trace Elements website to read more and see the new products.

Radishes are Out of Control ...

Here are pictures of a new delivery today. These radishes have taken less than 7 days to fill the containers ... as a point of reference, the tray lip stands 2 5/8" tall, the taller radish microgreens are 5"-6" high and are growing with nothing but our Full Spectrum Sea Solid fertilizer.
We have gotten excellent results with just the fertilizer, but you can use it to augment your current growing amendments.  The introduction of the full spectrum of minerals and nutrients unlocks the full potential of the wonderful microgreens.  You can go to our Sea Solids site for more information and order packages of the fertilizer mix either there or in our online store.

Another Day Another Harvest ...

OK ... yesterday our pic of the day gave you quite a show ... today our microgreens are more than ready to be harvested.  The plants are almost ready to shoot off the first true leaves, so at this point the microgreens are at their absolute peak of flavor and nutrition.  Note the deep colors now coming into the stems and how big the initial leaves are getting ... I can attest to the intense flavor that our sea solid fertilized microgreens possess.
Note that I have had to increasingly shoot the pics from further away due to the size of the microgreens.  A good gauge would be to imagine the perspective by the size of the container in the pics ... you can almost see the radish growing and me backing up to fit them all in!!!  let me add one more comment ... the flavor is AMAZING !!!

What ONE Day of Growth Looks Like ...

Thought you might enjoy seeing what one day of growth in our extreme microgreen setup looks like.  This setup is using both our WonderSoil with worm castings and our Sea Solids Full Spectrum Microgreen fertilizer to create a great growing environment for our red arrow radish microgreens.

First shot is of the tray from yesterday which was the emergent 5 days from seed ... second shot is after less than 24 hours elapsed and you can see how incredible the growth rate has been.  Note it is not only the height, but look at how the leaves are starting to spread and the stems that are getting thicker and colored.  The growth is even more pronounced if you look at the size of the base, the microgreens grew out over 1" in height in ONE DAY!!!

Rethinking Home Kits or Best of Both Worlds ...

10/18/2014

Feedback and results are the keys to success for any product or process.  In this case, one of our customers tried both the hydroponic kits and wondersoil kits and is having great success with the wondersoil.  SO I experimented with using our sea solid fertilizer with the wondersoil ... look what happened !!!  5 DAYS from planting to picture ....
This has led to a rethink on what our home kits will be going forward.  I will create changes in the kits this week and they are going to be wondersoil + sea solid fertilizer for our starter kits.  Our more advanced growers might want to attempt using our hydroponic kits as they are trickier to grow, but will provide exceptional production using straight hydroponic methods.  One twist that the wondersoil kits will introduce will be the simplifying of the growing process.  No longer will you need to put the kit in a dark environment, our process now calls for a light cover using the wondersoil so that will keep the seeds in the dark for germination.

Watch this week for the new kits to hit the store ...

Super Greens ... Our New Live Tray Packaging

With the recent spate of articles on the benefits of eating certain vegetables like Broccoli that may have an effect on autism symptoms and Kale as a genuine super food; we have repackaged our microgreens to reflect this new reality in the raw food area.  Microgreens in general concentrate the benefits from the full vegetable into wonderfully delicate and flavorful ways to ingest raw nutrition. Our process turns them into "Super Greens".

Our microgreens add the total spectrum (90+) minerals and nutrients found in sea solids as our fertilizer and the end product is what we are calling "Super Greens".  Not only are our Microgreens organic and live, but are unparalleled in their carrying a dose of trace minerals and nutrients within.  The taste and color of our product raises the bar and is unique in the microgreen world.

My Bad, New Product ...

Thanks to my bad instructions included with our new kits, one of our customers, Gloria Mendes actually led me to solve one of our problems with the live trays that we are now selling.  Gloria inadvertently inverted the trays and used the tall top as the growing bottom, you can see in the photos what I mean.  Because the tops were ventilated, this gave rise to a simple method of bottom watering that was not available before AND allowed the radishes to grow taller and fuller without the packaging constraints.  Here are photos of our new live trays for taller crops.
The clamshell container next to the new trays is going to be used for samples, but also illustrates the amount of microgreens contained in this one live container.  I harvested a sister tray and packaged in the clamshell to how just how full the one container is.  Thanks again to Gloria for discovering a unique solution to our packaging ....
