The evolution of our MicrogreenFarm products has taken a decidedly Eco turn. Building on a comment from my daughter Malia, who was one of the original beta kit testers, we searched for ways to make our kits truly eco conscious and not just through upcycling. We were lucky to find our needed pieces and the culmination of researching sources and testing samples is what you see here .... Our seed sources were already organic so we were good with our seeds. The media we were using included some material that was not within our eco definition so we found a pure coir media supplier. Coir is made from coconut husks and is a truly sustainable resource. In fact, we reuse the media after harvesting by adding it in our garden.
The biggest challenge has always been finding the right container, both in size and capacity, while having an eye on visual presentation. We finally found our last piece and have now included a tree free, compostable tray that is food safe for people and healthy for the planet. Our "farms" are meant to be an integral part of a meal and can even be placed on a table and harvested as you dine. The ultimate expression of farm to fork ... By using these items to assemble our new eco farm line, you will not only feel good by eating nutritious microgreens, but feel good because you are also doing something positive in the world ... We will release more details and products soon ... follow us here on the blog and also see our etsy store.
