Lots of rookie mistakes but a great result on our first crop from our Microgreen Kit... Let me start with the mistakes as we see them in retrospect ... 1) seeding technique on the initial tray was incredibly bad, this led to bunching of the microgreens and subsequently to areas of dense growth and patches of clear space. We started today a second tray of radish mix that we were extremely careful in our seeding technique and this should be way better result (photo of the tray vs broccoli tray will be uploaded after this post. 2) watering - I think we mistakenly added too much water stunting more growth rather than helping ... will be more disciplined on our second crop. 3) light management - will be adding supplemental lighting to our radish mix this time around. Blue LED light came day before harvest. Here are shots of the harvest ... Harvest yielded approximately 4oz of broccoli microgreens. I say approx because all I had was an OLD spring type postal scale so approx would be a generous term. In subsequent reporting, we should have a recently ordered electronic scale to yield far better measures of our production.
Would be great to hear back from others who have our kits with their experiences and crops ....
